Some Whiteoak families crossed the border into Lancashire in the eighteenth century - some may even have crossed the other way even earlier. Find them in here.

Rest of England
There have been stray Whiteoaks in Northumbria and other points North for over a hundred years. On the other hand, some Whiteoaks made the long trek South and settled there. If these are your ancestors, find them here.

There are a handful of Whiteoak records from Scotland which go back to the seventeenth century, and a few families moved North in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This is where to find them.

Wales and Ireland
At the moment I don't know of many Whiteoak events in Wales or Ireland, but please put here any that you know of. The map shows Ireland only in red at the moment, sorry!

Whiteoak in Australia and New Zealand
In the mid-19th century two brothers from Yorkshire, with their families, made the long journey to Australia. A third brother joined them later. These brothers are the ancestors of many Australian Whiteoaks, though not all. Subforum: Census

Whiteoak in Canada
William Whiteoak and Sally Dodd were the earliest immigrant ancestors of many Canadian Whiteoaks. Some settled in Ontario, and their descendants can still be found there. The Markham area has had a Whiteoak population since the 19th century. Subforum: Canadian Census

Whiteoak in the USA
There is some uncertainty about exactly when the Whiteoaks first arrived in the USA. Although most emigration to the USA seems to have happened in the 19th century, there were Whiteoaks here much earlier, even in the 17th. It seems likely that several families arrived there independently, some moving South from Canada. Subforum: US Census

Whiteoak Combings
Any odds and ends which don't fit into the main Forums can be posted here. This is where you can tell us - or ask us - about other families who "married in" to the Whiteoak family, or the descendants of Whiteoaks who "married out". There are also lists of some variant spellings of WHITEOAK.

Tall Tales
Every family has legends which grow with each telling. Did your great-great-grandfather go down with the Titanic, or your granny climb Everest before Hillary and Tensing thought of it? Tell us all about it here! Another reader may even be able to give you the true story . . .

England (North)
Many of my Yorkshire ancestors were in the weaving trades: handloom weavers, and later machine weavers and wool sorters. Principal surnames are Whiteoak, McCready, McCarthy, Metcalfe, Greenwood, Duckworth, Green and Barrett. There are also some records from Lancashire.

The Whiteoak Home Page
This is my Family Tree Maker page, more than ten years old now. I tend to put new material on the Forum nowadays because I can add to it more conveniently, but there is still some information there, some descendant Trees and a few photos.

The Redpath & Whiteoak Family Tree Page
This is the biggie - it has details of everybody in my family file, or at least it does when I update it. Trouble is, because it's so huge and cumbersome to upload, I only do it every . . . ummm . . . well, not as often as I should! So there's a lot in there, but it's not always quite up to date. It was last updated in June 2008.
